Getting in SHAPE!

We continued having fun learning different shapes this week!

Learning a triangle has three corners. Shua, put stickers on each corner.

Connecting the dots to make our own triangle. 

As Menachem was making his triangle, he noticed his looked a lot like a hammer shark and continued to make one.

Feeding triangle food, like pizza, to our hungry triangle.

Working hard on our Jewish shape book, creating a Pizza in the shape of a triangle, we can make a bracha on.

Chana, using her fine motor skills and safety skills to create a triangle using playdough and tooth picks.

Ben, helping us during circle time learn about the heart shape by picking out matching hearts to 'feed' our big heart.

Happy 3rd Birthday Chana! 

Jewish shapes fun!

The next two weeks we'll be having a lot of fun learning about shapes! There will be a fun Jewish twist to every shape we learn. This week we focused on Circles, Squares and Rectangles.

Mr. Circle came off our bulletin board to teach us all about how round he is. He was quite hungry and only wanted to eat circle food, Yakov helped him out with that.

Creating circles in salt. Was fascinating watching them figure out if they shook the tray it all disappeared! 

Shapes hopscotch! Menucha, getting good at her gross motor skills by getting ready to jump into two circles.

Tzedakah took on a whole new discussion as we noticed all the circles. Menachem "My circle coin is going into the circle top of the Tzedakah box!"

Mr. Rectangle helped us learn the difference between the square and rectangle. Shua, jumping into the rectangle and Yakov, showed us which is the square.

Using cars to drive on the sides was a fun way to see how the rectangles have longer sides.

We noticed some of our toys had a square shaped end, we dipped it into paint to see the square.

Lighting Up the Dark

Chanukah has been a blast! On Monday everyone in Mitzvah Menchies came in telling us the fun things they had done over the weekend. We heard stories of chocolate gelt, latkes, donuts and dreidels.

Some friends even brought in their wallets to show us their Chanukah gelt.

Each day we spoke about what day of Chanukah we were on, slowly but surely more and more flames were added to the Menorah. The light was getting stronger and stronger.

We turned off the lights and saw how one small candle can light up a whole room.

Our Mitzvos are like the candle that can light up the world. 

Creating some Flame art, using paint  drips and then scraping it off to reveal the beautiful marbleized colors beneath.

Yanky was proud to have completed the Menorah with the tangram shapes.

We enjoyed special activities in honor of Chanukah!

Playing dreidel was a treat!

We love to do regular pearler beads, 

so we switched it up and made some edible Chanukah themed ones!

Decorating donuts was a definite highlight! We saw some creative designs.

Playing a life size prize matching game, Hashem chose the teams of two through a lottery,

 then we chose trays, if we got a matching prize we got to keep it!
