First Week at Gan!

Our biggest focus during the first weeks of school is providing the children with a sense of safety through visual schedules, predictability of what's coming next, and lots of connection between the Morah's and children.

Orientation allowed all of our friends to meet and greet, as well as enjoy a peek at the fun schedule that will take place at Gan!

Each of our friends received a numbered puzzle piece that described the schedule of the day.

Each person had a chance to show the picture of the schedule of the day to their friends, and then mount it on our visual schedule that we refer to throughout our time in the classroom.

Knowing what comes next supports the children's feeling of safety at Gan!

During our first week at Gan we talked about feelings. There are so many different emotions we can have in a new setting.

The children were invited to paint a picture of their summer memories.

During morning centers we painted with textured bubble wrap to create Bee Hive Shana Tova cards!

.Ayal, helped us sing our Alef Beis song during davening circle

Bonding with friends.

We want to wish a Big Mazel Tov to our friend Yossi on his third birthday!

First Week Feelings

Welcome to a new year at Gan! We have friends who are in Prk and Kindergarten this year and we are so excited to start a year filled with love and learning.
Our friends were greeted with picture memories of them during the summer time.
This was a great way to transition and for them to share with friends what they did.

During our first circle time we told our friends in our safe keeper treasure box there is someone who we are super excited to learn with this year!
They each got to peek at who this person was and they found a reflection of them! Sweet smiles were a precious reaction.

Our safe keeper box represents our school family and how the Morah's are here to keep them safe and they can help keep it that way.
In the beginning of each circle as they place their popsicle people in we commit to a skill we will be working on for the first month which is - ATTENTIVE LISTENING.
(we have a fun song your child can sing to you)

First week feelings
This week's big idea we focused on all the feelings we might be feeling as a new year begins.
Some of our friends gave us a clue with their face what they were feeling ;)

Mimi, used playdough to let us know how she was feeling.

The beginning of school we are also instilling the routines and procedures that create a safe atmosphere for our friends.
Kfir, using our visual schedule to know what is happening next by turning over what we already did.

Our friends are also learning the skill of breathing properly so our brains can function to its fullest!

Hebrew academics 'Kria'
Our Prk friends are working on their letter recognition through work and play.

Our Kindergarten friends are working on the similar looking letters and reviewing the letters so we can get ready to learn how to read. We focused this week on the letters Reish and Daled which looks similar and learned that Rosh Hashanah starts with Reish.

This week we learned about the Hebrew month of Elul. During thi month before the high holidays Hashem , the King is 'in the field' He is listening to all that we need.
Yakov, role played the king leaving his palace even taking off his special robe to ask Mendy his friend what he needs.

Jack and Leah creating drawing what they want to ask Hashem for during this month.
