It all starts with a seed!

Learning what makes Hashem's beautiful tree grow!
Our sensory table helped the conversation start of how seedlings get planted.

Seeds are so fascinating. We saw them in all types of fruits and vegetables. Magnifying glasses helps us take a closer look.
Tweezers while helping our fine motor skills also helped us try to take the seeds out.

Wow! From a little tiny seed we get a big beautiful tree and so many things come from trees!
Friends, were invited to place recycling materials and wooden objects on their Tu B'shvat craft.

Our bodies look so similar trees- tracing them was a fun way to see that!

Practicing our math skills by patterning some fun nature objects.

We also learned about the 7 fruits of Israel.

Taking a closer look at a fig! For some of our friends it was there first peek at one.

Our taste buds had a field day with some yummy olives, it was fun observing their reactions to what was their tastes and what was not.

Pomegranates and grapes were a hit.

Feeling the difference between the flower and barley that is also part of the 7 foods of Israel.

Practicing Tu B'shvat songs!

Working hard on our Tu B'shvat hats by  painting and even using our cutting skills.

Always a good idea to regulate with some cozy book time.

I am like a tree!

This week we started our Tu B'shvat unit! When we celebrate the birthday of the trees.
Bringing parts of the tree in to get our hands on it is the best way to lay the foundation of learning all about the trees.

The light table gave us a different perspective.

Tal, helped decorate trees for our bulletin board.

Painting different parts of the tree and learning their names.

Water drops inside bark was a unique experience to see cause and effect.

Sensory is always a great way for children to learn! Oliver, using clay as a base for his tree.

Zalman, used his fine motor skills to place pipe cleaners in some holes to make branches.

We than learned all about the different parts of the tree and how they are just like our body.
Tal, placing branches on Zalmans tree body and each part represents something else in us!

Connection builds best outdoors.

This week our friends have also worked hard on their 'muffins for mom' crafts.
Using splattering technique to create another layer of color.

We also made delicious muffins for our moms.

Hi mommies! What a treat to spend the morning together.

Making Challah.

Getting treated out by our spa center.

Shabbos party was the highlight! What a special day!

Exploring the Moon & Our First Mitzvah

This week in our classroom, we explored the moon and learned about a very special moment in our Parasha, the first mitzvah given to the Jewish people as a nation: noticing and sanctifying the new moon.
The children learned that at the beginning of the month, the moon is very hard to see, almost invisible. As the days go by, the moon grows bigger and brighter, until the middle of the month when it becomes a full moon. After that, it slowly becomes smaller again, until a new month begins and the cycle starts all over.

We brought this learning to life in so many fun, hands-on ways.

We created moon art and explored the different stages of the moon.

We explored science with a baking soda and vinegar moon experiment! Ashira watching her “moon” bubble and come alive.

We counted 30 circle pieces to represent the days of the month and matched each day with the moon’s stage, helping us visualize how the moon changes over time.

We also explored movement and mindfulness through moon breathing and yoga. We stretched and breathed big like a full moon, and curled and moved gently like a crescent moon.

In Parashat Bo, we learned something very special called Gematria. We learned that Hebrew letters can also be numbers, and sometimes, numbers help us discover hidden secrets in the Torah! Together, we found out that the word “Bo” equals the number 3.
Mordy helping us with the math.

And guess what? That helps us discover a secret in the Parash, there are three Makot in Parashat Bo! Arbeh, Choshech, Bechorot. (wild animals, darkness, first born gone)

We spent extra time learning about Makat Choshech, through a story the children really connected to. During this plague, the Egyptians were surrounded by complete darkness. They couldn’t see anything at all, and they were so stuck that they couldn’t even move from their place.

For the Jewish people, it was very different. Even though it was dark, they were able to see clearly and walk around. The children loved hearing how the Jewish people walked through the Egyptian homes and noticed where the gold and jewelry were kept. They didn’t touch anything, they only looked and remembered.

Getting ready to celebrate our mommies!
Chana making a beautiful flower to place on her mommy’s card 💐

Baking banana muffins together 🍌 Mush mush!

Pre-K Kria

We learned the letter כ (Chof) and celebrated with a fun כִימְיָה (chemistry) experiment!

K Kria

We began our week with a Sheva party!
Excited to learn our new vowel, we started by making our very own Sheva charts

We decorated the bulletin board with Shema ✨
