Lag B'omer with life lessons!
With the holiday of Lag B'omer coming up we learned about the famous sage, Rabbi Akiva whose passing, this day commemorates. Click here for more on this Holiday
We chose to tell the children a portion of the story of his life. How he went from not knowing much Torah as an adult, to becoming a most sought after Rabbi, in the hope they can learn from his good character, and implement his virtues in their own lives.

Rabbi Akiva participated (as a student) in one of our circle times this week! He really did go to Gan and start from scratch his journey in Torah knowledge. It was quite funny to some of the children that he was in preschool, even though we learned he was 40 years old!

Once he became a Rabbi, His main message was to have AHAVAS YISRAEL- love each other unconditionally. What a beautiful message for our children!
We made an Ahavas Yisroel puzzle class project. Each time we saw an act of Ahavas Yisroel that the children did we drew/wrote it on a puzzle piece inside a large heart. When it is complete, we will enjoy a class treat!

Alef Beis practice
Rabbi Akiva started with the Alef Beis so this week we put a lot of emphasis on practicing our Hebrew Alphabet and a special focus on the first letter of their name.

The children had to try to copy the Hebrew letter in their shaving cream. This was a great way to practice since it was easily erased and fun at the same time!

It was beautiful to see the teamwork and friendship this week!
Lately the children have been very into digging themselves a hole in the sand and 'burying' themselves and creating a cozy feeling.
This week the single little holes turned into one big one for all our friends!
Another lesson we can learn from Rabbi Akiva is to never give up and that is what brought him the success he experienced!
Throughout the week any time a child was having a hard time accomplishing something we always referred back to 'keep on trying' and 'don't give up'
