The highlight of our week was definitely Thursday's Lag B'omer celebration. What made it even more special, was the lead up which the children have been preparing for over the last 2 weeks.
The lead up was finding as many opportunities to display friendship and caring for one another through the "Heart Puzzle" that Morah Shira began with the children 2 weeks ago.
Writing down narratives of the children's acts of kindess, and displaying them in the puzzle pieces helped the children learn what the big idea of Lag B'omer really is:
Friendship, and caring for one another!

Our Classroom Friendship Puzzle was FILLED in time for Lag B'omer! |
Some moments of friendship we caught on the camera....
Max & Elizabeth!
Chanie & Levi working together to create a chain.
Elizabeth, Chani & Levi Lubin playing together with friendship and patience.
Levi, Aron & Shua working together to build with magna-tiles & Create a Zoo in the block center
Taking the lesson home...
To reinforce the big idea of Lag B'omer (which is really a big idea of our whole school philosophy) the children created "friendship puppets" of themselves, to take home and role play the beautiful acts of friendship which we have been seeing all week!
The children told the Morah's what they like about their friends, and their words were written down for them to take home, and "play" together.
A BIG THANK YOU to Sandy Gelfound and ALL the Mommies for such a magnificent display of gratitude to us on Tuesday, for Teacher Appreciation day. We all felt very appreciated and loved!
