With Tu BiShvat around the corner, we stepped into a world of trees, fruits, and blessings.
Our sages teach that a person is like a tree, and by learning about the different parts of a tree, we also learned more about ourselves!
We focused on the roots of the tree. By placing yarn on Golda’s feet, we demonstrated how a tree drinks water through its roots and how Hashem fills the ground with water and nutrients to help it grow. Eli B. then showed us how we drink through a straw, helping the children connect the tree to themselves.
Strong roots keep a tree firmly in the ground, even when strong winds blow. The children took turns trying to push the tree and make it fall, but it didn’t move! Then we all tried together, and the tree still didn’t budge!
Our roots are our emunah (faith). Just like strong roots hold a tree steady, our emunah keeps us grounded and helps us stand strong. We asked the children what a “strong wind” in our lives might be, and Yossi C. shared, “the yetzer hara.” We then talked about different scenarios and how we can overcome it.
We explored all seven fruits of Eretz Yisrael through touch,
sight,
smell, and of course, taste!
Mordy, proudly wrote the word זית (olive), and we also learned the special after-blessing recited after eating the seven fruits.
Planting in out sensory table!
Pre-K Kria
We learned the letter Final Chaf, focusing on its special form at the end of a word.
K Kria
We practiced Shva Na and Shva Nach.
Academics
We have been learning about ants..& did a science experiment to see what food ants like to eat.
We then recorded our results..as all good scientists do!
