Dreidle Math: Probability, More/less...

We've incorporated loads of fun math concepts into our classroom through an exciting "Dreidle Tally Game"

First we taped a shape of a dreidle onto the floor. We counted boxes to make sure there were even boxes on each side of the dreidel....

Using a Tally board, the children "check" off which letter they land on.

I wonder which letter will win? The children are speculating, and estimating based on the outcomes of their spins....

Lots of fine motor skills are being worked on as they learn to hold the pen correctly and "check" off the letter....

.....In addition to the fine motor skill of SPINNING the dreidel!

This activity led to an interesting discussion on "More and Less".... "Bigger and smaller" as the children observed some of the tally columns being much "TALLER" than the others.....

Don't you love how children use their hands to show how tall they are!

The discussion moved away from the dreidel game to another section of the room where the children were comparing who was "TALLER" than the other!
