How are we Like the Stars in the Sky?
Torah Portion "Lech Lecha"
Our main goal of teaching the stories from the Torah, is to bring out its life lesson. We make it relevant and practical to the children and empower them to live as a better person in this way.
This weeks Torah portion talks about the first Jew- Abraham (Avraham.)
Avraham discovered Hashem at the age of 3!
Around the age of our class! We thought it would be meaningful if we made them aware, that even at their age --- they too can have such a special connection to Hashem!
Avraham was looking around...wondering... where is Hashem?
He looked up and saw a sun, "could that be Hashem?"
Then it disappeared and he saw a moon, "could that be Hashem?" He wondered?
All the kids said "No Avraham, (giggle) the sun is not Hashem!"
Hashem is everywhere! He's invisible! He's IN everything!
Each of the children pointed to themselves!
Wow! how special we all have a part of Hashem in us!
Hashem loved Avraham so much and wanted to give him a special blessing.
Hashem said "look up"
on our ceiling we put stars so we looked up too...
STARS!
We tried reaching them. Than we asked the children "How many stars?"
Some children asked for a chair to try to reach and count...
It was way too many!
Then we put out some sand on the floor... we tried counting that too....
nope too many!
That was the blessing Hashem gave to Avraham!
Just like there is so many stars and sand there will be so many special Jewish people just like us!
The main message we wanted the children to walk away with was how SPECIAL EACH OF THEM ARE!
We are all a different star that can shine and Hashem loves each of us so much!
So with a star hat each child got a special ride while we sang:
(tune I love you- barney)
Hashem loves ____ (childs name) x2
Hashem loves me and Hashem loves you
______ is so special!
Our friends helped lift up each child! what a special feeling!
After feeling so good, we made a star project. Each child received a star- and had the chance to decorate it with shiny glitter!
We were intentional to put out just ONE container of different colors of paint to help encourage sharing and taking turns!
Love it! These kids at the Gan, are REALLY learning, and getting the lessons from the Torah! Thank you Hashem for giving my children a chance to be in the best Preschool anywhere!
