Discovering our beautiful world together!
This week we focused on the first two days of creation:
Day 1- Light and Dark
Day 2- Waters (separating the sky and the Ocean)
What was it like before Hashem (G-d) created light in the world?
We closed our eyes...DARK. Hashem created darkness.
Even with a few cute eyes peeking ;) we talked about what we couldn't see.
So Hashem created LIGHT !
To demonstrate what the world must have felt like before the light was created. With two holes in a box each child looked into the box and tried to see what object was inside the box. The second hole with the light coming through was covered.
whats inside?
hmm..
After letting in some light into the box the children were able see what it was!
Thank you Hashem for LIGHT :)
Using our light switch we learned two new Hebrew words!
Liam helping us put the light on.
Light = Ohr
Levi H. came to shut them off
Dark- Choshech
Art to express this idea:
Using dark paper, and white paint....we created LIGHT art!!
Our little chefs made black and white cookies! :)
Problem solving & Carrying the learning outside the classroom:
The children found a box outside and it reminded them of circle time! They put a lot of toys inside and closed it up, to make it DARK.
Love it when the concepts of circle time expand in their minds..
Liam looking to see his objects in his dark box.
Now they wanted to take it on to their 'airplane'.
obstacle: it didn't fit!
I had to hold back the urge to help them out and lift it..... This was a great opportunity for them to learn a greater lesson through problem solving and finding the solution!
After some time - They did it!:) They figured out a way to get it through!
Wow...that feeling of accomplishment was written all over their faces!
Hashem created water! (Day #2)
After tasting some water we discussed oceans, rivers and lakes... there is so much water in the world around us!
We created a science experiment making an ocean in a bottle.
First we placed sand and seashells. Then we put blue water and oil.
With the oil not mixing with the water and while rocking the bottle back and forth it created waves like in a ocean!
Did you know there is water in clouds too!
Max very happily screamed "clouds, water!"
Shaving Cream Clouds:
We pasted a picture of clouds on the table, to help the children imagine playing with blue sky and clouds! (Blue balloons and shaving cream)
Sink & Float:
Using a bucket of water, we experimented with various objects from around the classroom to see what sinks and what floats!
By the pool, Levi commented he was going to see if he will sink or float!
Water painting:
Blue sensory table:
Inside the table we taped ocean pictures and the sky with clouds to inspire the children's imagine.
Water play!
Building friendships at Gan:
Beautiful to see during the first week of camp friendships and communication ..
Look what we made together! |
