Day 3: Grass flowers and trees!
We used all our senses to explore the wonders of what was created on Day #3.
By circle time we TOUCHED different nature objects. That included items with an AROMA like rosemary (freshly picked from our garden). BUMPY bark that the children were able to peel off.
The objects sparked their interest and will hopefully give the children a better appreciation for nature when they head outdoors!
After smelling the plant, some children brought the tree bark to their noses to see if it too had a smell. We talked about the TEXTURE and how bark helps the tree.
How does Hashem make the plants grow?
We crouched into little seeds. with sun light and a little sprinkle of water... we started to grow! :)
Into a BIG PLANT!
This was a great lesson for us as well to eat healthy and drink water so we can grow strong too. This discussion was brought into our snack time and lunch time when we can be cautious with what we are eating. We like to call it GROWING FOOD in our class!

More Nature sensory opportunities, Play dough with tree branches!
Devorah leah created a tree.
Flower inspired art.
with a picture of different color flowers each child selected the right color paint and made their own flower.
A lot of concentration ..
Q-tip painting was not enough for our sensory loving kids;)
We painted our hands and created flowers out of them. We heard lots of giggles from the paintbrush in their palm.
Stickers are a great way to practice motor skills.
We practiced communication and co-operation by creating a nature scene on one poster board!
|
Using shared space requires lots of cooperation ;) |
Edible fruit flowers
What a healthy delicious way to learn about flowers ! With a flower cookie cutter and applying the right amount of pressure they each made a unique fruit flower.
Levi " I made a fruit face"

Day 4: Sun, Moon & Stars.
Did you know the moons light changes in size throughout the month? We put out various cutouts of all different stages of the moon for the children to paint with silver paint!
The children enjoyed observing a model "moon", as well as seeing how it changes.
|
Liam observing the many phases of the moon. |
We went inside a dark room, that had no windows to show the children how the moon gets its light. Reflecting the light from the sun (which we used a flashlight to show the children.)
|
The moon joined us in the library! |
