Torah Tots Reflect on the year!

Reflective practice is a valuable skill every person needs to succeed in life, be it professionally or in one's personal life.
As the school year comes to an end we wanted to utilize the time to reflect. We took big ideas from throughout the whole year, and presented it to the children as an opportunity to reflect and remember what was learned.

Picture memories

This week we invited the children to look at pictures from the whole year and document a fond memory they have.

Motty found  a picture of Morah Malka by music time and started drawing a picture of himself singing. It was so great to hear his experience and why he enjoyed it so much.
Bela Riva loved finding herself petting Morah Rachel's cat.

Look How big I got!

Pictures from the beginning of the year were a great visual on how much they physically have grown! Ava loved seeing herself and Chaim found a picture while he was still just visiting the classroom before he joined our class! "I am a big boy now!"

Reviewing some of the Big Ideas from this year.

Rosh Hashana- Have a sweet new year, I can be sweet!

It was amazing how the children's memory was immediately triggered by just taking out honey!
They remembered what we say on Rosh Hashanah to have a sweet new year and that they can be sweet too!

Dovi helped Hannah with the Mitzvah notes and asked for some honey ;)
Evan getting a sweet hug!

Yom Kippur- We can fix our mistakes and make them sweet!

We all make mistakes, the question is what do we do next? We placed some paper and markers to help the children apologize if they made a mistake. It was a great way to discuss and reflect how we can act differently next time.

Safety!
We reviewed our safety theme by talking about 911 and what to do in case of an emergency.
Yehudis practicing her number and letter writing while working on a 911 work sheet.

An Obstacle course was a great way to review some important safety rules.
When there is a fire, smoke rises crawl low on the floor!
Always wear a helmet to keep your head safe! (balancing a bowl on their head while riding a bike!)

Ella creating a fire with paint and a fork.

Tu B'shvat - Our fruits are our Mitzvahs!

Creating a big tree with our bodies and placing mitzvah notes on the branches.
Menachem drawing his favorite mitzvah to be nice to his brother Arik.

Purim - We do Mitzvahs like Mordechai and Esther!

During the Holiday of Purim we focused on the Jewish heros Mordechai and Esther. During morning center we placed a picture of them and different mitzvah pictures this helped them remember the big idea of how we are just like them!

Playing a guess the Mitzvah game.

Next week we will review the rest of the big ideas and celebrate a special end of year ceremony!
