Discovering our world - Days 5 & 6

This week we discovered the things Hashem created on Days five and six.

Day #5 - Birds, fish, and insects

Using different textures and mediums, we created beautiful fish art! The bumpy netting created scale looking designs, as well as wonderful sensory feedback for the kids!

We learned that Kosher fish have fins and scales! So the children were able to stick scales onto their fish creations!

Iced Fishy Fun!

We froze plastic fish in icecube trays.... for some summer fish toy fun!

Once the ice cubes were dipped in the water, all the ice melted and fish were revealed!

 Insects!

Hashem created  insects on the 5th day of creation! We brought a batch of ladybugs for the children to observe one morning!
We learned that lady bugs are helpful for growing things in our garden, as they eat different insects that might harm the vegetables!

...and enjoyed watching them as they were set free and flew away!

Ants on a log! Yum!

Day #6 - Animals and Humans!

We were lucky to have many furry friends visit our classroom this week!

Morah Rachel brought in her kitten, "Balloon" for a short visit!

The Quintana's brought in a bunch of their fascinating animals! Two types of Iguana's and a turtle!  Some brave friends even pet them!

Turtle had a tour of our classroom!

Trip to the farm!

Our highlight of the week was a trip to Underwood Farms in Somis where the children were able to feed and enjoy watching sheep, lambs, alpacas, goats and chickens!

After seeing some of the animals that Hashem created on day #6 we enjoyed picking delicious berries!

Water fun!
