A very wet week!

This week we learned the story of Noach and the flood.
The people of the world were all being not nice.

Evan "But can't they just say 'I'm sorry'?"

This was a very important observation and question that we needed to address while learning this Torah portion.

We just recently learned about Yom Kippur and how we sometimes make a mistake and we can fix it so what is going on here?!
Through puppet shows and visuals we tried to give over to the children how this was an entire world making wrong choices without feeling bad or saying I'm sorry. It was time for Hashem to wash the world clean.

Discussing circle time by our Noach's Teiva
bulletin board and props to go with it.

What is a flood?

We covered a spray bottle with white cotton to create a cloud filled with rain. As we sprayed the children we talked about the difference between rain falling and a flood.
Menachem " I have boots that help me in the rain".

Creating their own rain using cups that had holes on the bottom.
For a fun sensory experience, we also placed rainbow colored water beads!

Creating their own 'Teivas' (ark)

Animal art

We talked a lot about animals this week since all the animals (2 of a kind for non-kosher animals, 7 of a kind for kosher animals) Noach brought into the Teiva and took care of them during the flood.

Different kinds of animal were on display along side many choices of materials for the children to create their own.

Motty learned about patterning while creating his zebra.
Hannah learned about negative space while creating the black lines for the zebra she didn't need to draw any white lines!

Dovi counting the horse's legs and creating it on his own picture.

It's amazing to watch the children begin to want to write their own names on their projects.

After the flood, Hashem showed Noach a beautiful rainbow in the sky to reassure him that He will never again send a flood. This was a great opportunity to talk about what we should be doing and all the sweet mitzvahs that make the world a beautiful place.

Great fine motor and color recognition activity while placing the correct color bead and pipe cleaner.

Faiga working hard on her Noach's Teiva project.

We would like to wish a big Mazel Tov to Motty Bryski and his family on  the birth of a new baby boy!
