Parshat Lech Lecha: Like the Stars in the Sky

Parshas Lech Lecha

The Parsha begins with Hashem telling Avraham to leave his home in Charan and to travel to Canaan, Eretz Yisroel.
When Avraham arrives in Eretz Yisroel he finds out that there is a famine. There was no food. But there was food in Mitzraim. Avraham and his family traveled to Mitzrayim to get food. Avraham was worried the people living in Mitzrain would take Sara away from him because she was so beautiful. So Avraham decided to hide Sara in one of the boxes.
Bela Riva is hiding in a suitcase just like Sara hid in a box.

Ask your child what happened next to Sara!

Hashem promised Avraham that he would have children and that they will be as many as the stars in the sky.  Hashem told Avraham that He is giving him the Land of Canaan (Israel) , and it will be for his children and grandchildren forever!
Rozei is counting all the stars from our friends projects. It was not easy to count all the stars.
Each and every one of us is a star. When we say something nice to our friends we shine brightly.

 Morning Parsha Centers

I wonder what Avraham packed with him when he traveled to Eretz Yisroel?
What would you pack in your suitcase when you travel?
Motty and Dovi are picking all the items they need to put in their Lech Lecha suitcase.
Hashem promised Avraham Avinu that he would have so many children, as many as the stars in the sky.
Malka and Mendel are creating skies full of stars.

Spelling words from this weeks Parsha in wet sand!
Dovi wrote the word ארץ that means Land because Hashem promised Eretz Yisroel to Avraham.

Words are Powerful

Mitzvah Menchies are experimenting with plants and words. We have 2 plants in our experiment.
To one plant we will show love and affection, saying nice things and using a gentle voice.
The second plant, we will do the opposite, using an angry voice and not-nice words.
Plants are living things, so we wonder what will happen.
What do you think mommies and daddies?
Saige promises to be best friends with the good plant.

Capit Hebrew Reading

The Capit program was a lot of fun. We practiced the sound "B" by playing a game. The goal was to get the Ball in the Box. The children were able to visualize the spelling and create a wonderful memory by having fun playing a game.
Here we are practicing the sound ''V'' as in Van. We had a lot of fun pretending we were in a Van.
Bela Riva is shouting ''EE, EE, EE'' because we learned the new sound  ''EE''

This week we actually started to read real words. Our first word in Hebrew was אבא and most of us knew the meaning!  אבא means Dad.

English IPad Program

One of the most exciting moments this week was starting our Capit English program. The children get to learn and practice english language sounds for 20 minutes a day.

Malka and Bela Riva finished their work so quickly and they wanted more! So together they decided testing each other on all the sounds they learned.

Aleph Bais Exploration

After a scavenger hunt around the room to collect the letters Beis and Veis, we worked together to form giant versions of the letters.
Evan chooses "light up" beads to glue on his Beis, because he likes that kind the most.

 "B" is for Bird

After learning that "B" is the first letter of bird, we went on a leaf-gathering mission so we could make birds nests.
Our explorers chose and considered each leaf and branch carefully before adding it the basket.

Faiga proudly displays all of our findings!

Menachem uses glue to stick his branches and leaves on his "B" to make a birds nest.

Exploring and learning about a birds favorite food.... Worms!!
Mendel couldn't wait for his turn to observe and play.
