'All About Me'
The next couple of weeks we will be focusing on how special and unique we all are. Young children often get caught up in being the same as their friend or not realizing a difference is what makes them who they are. It was so empowering to highlight each individuals progress and talents this week.
Graphing is a great way to visualize how each of us are created differently.
We started the week off graphing hair color.
Moshe checking himself in the mirror to see what color
Sholom's hair color was a discussion, is it blonde or brown? The results he decided were "orange".
Even though we have many friends who are blonde in our class, we took this opportunity to take a deeper look and no two friends had the exact same hair color and texture.
This week our friends worked really hard on their "All about me" folders. This is a great way to look back on their developmental skills they had at this age.
Chanie using her cutting skills and gluing them into her personal folder.
Adelle getting measured using ribbon to document how tall she is.
Self Portraits
Self portraits are actually a key part of learning and personal development. By creating a self portrait, children learn who they are, how they want to present themselves and what's important to them.
We used different mediums to invite the children to create their self portrait.
Coloring on the mirrors was a direct way to create their own faces. Moshe tracing his eyes and then when finished he wanted to make a mask over his face to be dressed up!
Esther used a wet wipe to recreate different images of herself.
Sholom and Arik working hard on their self portraits.
Using gems and stones on tree stumps to create different emotions.
Old keyboards helped some of our children start recognizing the letters in their name. Batya found her letter B!
Turned into an office. Emma said she was helping Mina with a lot of work.
Sometimes the best way to learn all about each other and our uniqueness is chatting amongst friends.
Trying to guess their friends faces from just seeing their eyes and noses.
