This week we learned what number 33 is in the counting of the Omer. Lag B'omer!
We sharpened our math skills to count out thirty three items.
We have been learning about the Sefiros these past weeks in a deep, meaningful and practical way.
Chesed: we learned all about kindness. We even touched on how too much Chesed is not a good thing.
Gevurah: we learned how to stop ourselves and do what's right or how to say no in a nice way.
This week we introduced Tiferes. It is the result of mixing Chesed and Gevurah together.
Our sefira chart documentation has been pink for Chesed and blue for Gevurah.
We had Mina and Esther mix these two colors to get our new color for our chart, purple!
Practically, what we practiced is even if a friend doesn't 'need' to be kind but has empathy, that is Tiferes.
For example, while on our walk to the train even though it was Batya's turn to hold Morah's hand she let Esther had her turn, cuz she noticed Esther was feeling sad that it wasn't her turn yet.
We started our Lag B'omer unit by learning in detail the story of Rabbi Akiva.
How he didn't even know Alef Beis but Rochel his wife encouraged him to learn and never give up.
Akiva, was inspired by a rock with a hole made by water showing with persistence and time he can go far.
Using rocks with holes in them, we had fun filling them with water.
Our main lesson from Rabbi Akiva's students, is respecting our friends.
We invited our friends to make friendship crafts.
Beis Iyar, a special day in the Chassidic calendar. The Rebbi Maharash's birthday who famously taught us to face challenges: 'Lchatchila Ariber.' To begin with, we should go over our challenges.
We each wrote something that challenges us and placed them in a box to jump over them.
Learning a new Nikuda, Koobootz!
We went on a fun trip to the train station for our new vowel party.
Before we do anything new, we dedicate our family meeting time to safety and understanding expectations.
While waiting for the train we made a koobootz train craft.
Practicing the new sound.
We were so excited when we saw the train coming. "Choo choo" we all said and got a lot of waves from passengers. When we left a creative friend said "Lets say Booo Hooo which also has the koobootz sound!"
We want to wish a big happy 6th birthday to Mina and Arik!
