Megillahs Esther coming to life!

This week we continued the story of Purim. It was now time to 'enter' the royal palace! Coming from Mordechai and Esther's Jewish home we noticed the contrast between both of the environments. Mordechai's home was full of Mitzvot and love of the Torah and Hashem. King Achashverosh was all about his riches and showing them off.
Through different activities, dress up, projects, and puppet shows we experienced Purim in such a hands on way!

Jack, creating a palace using colored squares .

Looking at our reflection in the mirror and making our own royal portraits.

Acting out the Purim story.
King Achashverosh didn't have his wife, Queen Vashti anymore, he made a decree where EVERY  girl in the land had to come into the palace to see if they would be fit to be his new Queen.

Esther, was taken by the guards and Mordechai told her to keep her Jewish identity a secret.
King Achashverosh realized Esther was special and chose her to be his new Queen.
Esther had full Emunah (belief) in Hashem that this plan was meant to be for the good!

Making jewlery for the girls who will be getting ready to be seen by King Achashverosh to see if they will be chosen to be the new Queen.
Menachem bejeweling his scepter!
While most girls were excited to see if they were chosen. Esther would rather be in Mordechai's home and when she knew she had to go she didn't want anything fancy while getting ready.

Painting nails!

Hangman became a popular game in our class with guessing the Hebrew letters!

Building the palace by placing the correct Alef Beis on the castle.

Drawing the events in the story

As we learned more about the story we had fun placing our drawings in sequence of the events.

During circle time, we played a laughing game in honor of Rosh Chodesh Adar where we increase in joy! We all started pretending to laugh and then it turned into a real laughing circle!

Thank you Rabbi Lang for our Rosh Chodesh Adar rally

This week we did an earthquake drill in our class.  We learned to Drop, Cover, and Hold!

Happy Birthday Menachem Heidingsfeld!

Who's the real king?!

Our Friends are just like Mordechai and Esther! There are so many moments through out the day we can showcase how many mitzvahs they do just like them!
Taking care of our bearded dragon, giving Tzedaka, kissing the Mezuzah!

After experiencing the Jewish heroes in the Megillah it was now time to learn about the story of the miracle of Purim.
A new center was put up in the classroom, the palace of King Achashverosh.
It was defiantly more shiny and attractive but our friends knew right away where Mordechai and Esther would feel more comfortable.

During snack time we ate in the palace to hear the Kings personality during a feast he invited everyone too. Yossi, helped us hold the King puppet and use words of showing off and boastfulness.

Decorating our own crowns.

Talking about palaces while we created some using magnet tiles.

During our sensory time using molding sand.

When the king was looking for a new queen all the girls were so excited however Esther was hesitant.
Mordechai reassured her if she was choosen it was Hashem's plan.

Esther was so brave by bringing her Mizvahs with her into the palace and remained a brave Jew even while being the new Queen.

Role playing the Purim story.

Mendy and Eli helped us learn about the Kings evil friend named Haman . He wanted everyone to bow down to him and they were so brave and told him "no we only bow down to Hashem".

Mordechai, told all the Jewish people not to be scared of Haman and his evil plans but to continue to learn Torah. Mordechai, would gather the children to learn Alef beis! We had fun one morning painting Alef Beis.

Mitzvos in the Home

Purim unit 1: As Purim is approaching we started of this week by learning about Mordechai and Esther in the times of Shushan. We focused on there home and way of life. Mordechai was a great Tzaddik (righteous man)  and Esther (who was first named Hadassah) was a great Tzadeikes (righteous women). We learned how we are like Mordechai and Esther.
Mordechai was a Torah scholar and he made sure all the Jewish boys and girl learned Torah and do Mitzvos! Practicing our letter recognition and placing it inside a Torah.

Mordechai joined  our davening circle and was so proud of us singing with so much passion and knowing the Aleph Beis!

Match the object to the Mitzvah game!

Aleph Beis playdough house building
And building homes with blocks

Adding Mitzvos to our own homes

We started the first page of our Megillah!

For Aleph Beis we made our own buttoned Hebrew name plaques!
We are learning to recognize our own names

Each kid wrote their own Hebrew name on their very own Siddurim.
