What are you wearing?

This week's Parsha is Tzavah and we learned all about the clothing the Kohen would wear in the Mishkan.
We started off by talking about our clothing. When talked about the different types of clothing we wear. Sometimes nicer for Shabbos sometimes more casual etc
The Kohen who worked in the Mishkan wore very special unique clothing to do his job.

Yossi, made what a Kohen and a Kohen Gadol's uniform.

It was such Hashgacha Pratis (divine providence) that the morning Bracha we were up to was 'Malbish Arumim' which talks about our clothing. It was so much more meaningful during our davening circle to talk about our clothing and thank Hashem.

Chaya Leah and Mimi came in one morning with matching outfits, how fun!

Each partical of clothing was so special and filled with meaning. The Ketones (a long shirt) the Kohen would wear was light blue which would remind them of the sky and think about how Hashem is everywhere. Nechama, created a sky image using light blue paint.

Some parts of their clothing was weaved. Chana, practicing her weaving skills.

In this week's Parsha it also talks about the Kitores (spices) and
this was the last thing that was made for the Mishkan.
Morah Hadar, who became Rivka from Israel arrived and showed us all types of different spices.

We practiced using our sense of smell by matching the food item to the picture.

Our class worked hard with Morah Rachel this week on a beautiful Purim backdrop for our bulletin board.

Prk Kria
We learned final nun!

Kindergarten Kria
We learned the difference between the 'loud Shva' (when it's in the beginning of a word and makes a sound) and the 'quiet Shva' (in middle or end of a word) that only makes the letter sound. Jack finding the two different types in a prayer in the siddur.

We used a stick when making a loud sound and pillow when making a quiet sound to help us remember.

We love when babies come to visit!

Yay! We finished our Brachas unit!

This week we finished the last two Brachas!
Hamotzei, what we say on bread, pizza, bagels etc. Yosef, used his play dough to make his very own challah braid.

During circle time, we learned what special thing we do before we eat- wash our hands three on each hand!
After role modeling the process, Eli and Zalman wanted to try it themselves and see if they got it right!

In honor of the Bracha of Hamotzei our friends became chefs and made their very own pizza lunch! Picking different toppings made each one so different and unique.

The very last Bracha we learned about is Hagafen what we say on grape juice and for our parents, wine!
Chana and Ayal, showing us how grape juice is made, by crushing grapes. Some of our friends had a great quesiton; "Grapes are Haetz?!" Which is a great observation! As soon as it becomes a special drink it turns into a different Bracha.

Levi, wanted to show us how his Tatty makes kiddush on Shabbos.

Yossi, finishing up his last page in his Bracha book by decorating a kiddush cup with a lot of purple inspired art.

Noa and Chana, making a cluster of  grapes using pom poms and paint!

Mordy, using his architect skills building with grapes and toothpicks.

We celebrated at the end of the week, practicing using our very own Brachas book. Avraham and Ariella 'feeding themselves' different food items.

Ha'adama and Ha'atz man!

This week we learned two Brachas (blessings) Ha'adama for vegetables and Ha'etz for fruits!
Hashem made such colorful vegetables, Mordy matching the vegetable to the color on the rainbow.

Our friends were invited to explore different vegetables and use tweezers to remove the seeds. Roasting different types of squash was a real delicious treat.

Peeling ha'adama peanuts!

Ha'etz, delicious fruits came out by circle time and we tested our taste buds again to see if we can guess the fruit.

Playing a fruit match it game! So many important skills were being practiced like waiting our turn, when to go again and names of the different fruits.

We worked really hard making a Ha'adama and Ha'etz man!

Can you find which is Ha'adama and which is Ha'etz?

There is nothing like playing in the sandbox together and coming up with creative homes and stories.

The Holy Mishkan

This week we learned about Parshas Teruma where Hashem wanted the Jewish people to build a Mishkan (a mini Beis Hamikdash). A place where they can feel close to Hashem while they traveled to Eretz Yisroel.

Teruma means donations. Hashem told Moshe to ask the Jewish people if they have any of the 14 items that the Mishkan needed they can donate it if they want to, Hashem wanted it to be their choice.
Our friends practiced donating different materials that was needed.

Making a project showing the 14 different  materials.

This week we also learned how our very own body is like the Mishkan!

After learning about the most holiest part of the Mishkan, the Aron we made an edible one!

Mimi, helping out and showing friends how to make it.

Tracing the Keilim (vessels) in the Mishkan.

We learned the letter nun this week. Mendy, practicing writing a nun on the white board.

Shia, made his very own creative nun!

Kindergarten Kria
We have been practicng our new vowel of Shva.
We learned its quite a silly vowel since it depends where in the word its placed to know the sound. This week we focused on what it sounds like in the beginning of the word!
Using stickers to create the vowel symbol!

During morning centers, we place review un pages for both levels and its fun to see the prk friends try the kindergarten work!

We are in the Hebrew month of Adar! The most joyous month of the year! This year we have two Adars! Working hard on a beautiful Adar sign and we have been doing a lot of dancing and singing!
