Bless and Ess

Brachas (Blessings) on food unit

Ess- is a yiddish word for eat.
For the next couple of weeks we will be exploring, learning and tasting ;)
the different categories of food and their respective "brachas" (blessings). We will be doing a lot of Essing and Blessing ;)

What a beautiful gift we have to ask and thank Hashem for our food every time we eat!
Our Bracha's paddle signs helped us learn the different blessings by snack time when each child was invited to choose which category they can find in their lunch boxes.

 Bracha of '...Shehakol Nihiyo bidvaro'

We turned a fruit which is 'Ha-eitz' into a 'Shehakol' by making juice! Fresh squeezed orange juice was a yummy way to make the Bracha of Shehakol. (and explore the science behind juice making!)

Graphing who liked the juice with Morah Malka.

Ice cream is also Shehakol. Shaving cream and glue was a fun way to create our ice cream picture.

We caught a precious moment of Yanky realizing Eitan got some 'ice cream' on his shirt and came running over with a paper towel.

Esther making a lollipop with beads as the candies on top. Chana Rochel practicing her math skills by placing the correct number of pom pom scoops on her ice cream.

Asara B'Tevet

On Tuesday it was a very special and sad day on the Jewish calendar. The 10th of Teves is the start of the siege of the Beis Hamikdash. We learned what will build the 3rd Beis Hamikdash, is by being kind to one another.
To practice this, each child received a puzzle piece and was asked to say something they loved about their friend, after writing it down on the piece,  a Shehakol chocolate chip was given to that child! Our puzzle pieces created a big heart!

Bracha of Mezonos

Adelle decorating a yummy cupcake for her Mezonos project. It was interesting how it matched her shirt.

Esther using small tree stumps as cookies.

We made delicious healthy oatmeal raisin cookies together. Sholom making sure the egg was kosher with no blood spots. Working together mixing.

Learning portion control, and to use spoons to drop the batter on the cookie tray.

Mezonos Cheerio necklaces

We used these yummy Mezonos cookies to say a special bracha to elevate Esther's Bubby and Zaidy's neshama on their yartzeit.

Our 'shehakol man' wanted some cookies too ;)
