Eating the Rainbow
Our Mitzvah Menchies have constantly been hearing about growing food. But what does that mean ? Does it mean food that grows in the ground?
This week the nutritionists in our class delved into the science of food, and what it does to help us grow. Eating the rainbow is a great visual that helped us understand what we need to be eating to help us grow.
We sorted our fruits and veggies into the colors. Something that we really loved learning about was what the different colors of food actually do for our bodies.
Esther helping her friend find the colors she needs to draw and sort the different foods.
Sitting by snack and lunchtime and getting excited about what we are helping our body do by eating each color was really exciting.
We learned about the different food groups, and which goes into each of them. Each contains different nutrients that our bodies.
We put eating the rainbow into practice with our salad bar. Preparing the veggies and dressings.
Everyone found things they enjoyed and it was so empowering to be able to choose exactly the veggies we wanted.
Animals need different nutrients than people! It's important to give each creature what is right for them. Shmuel uses magnet letters to make his name

Torah Tots take a DEEP breath
Emotions unit
This week we have been exploring all our different feelings. The big idea we wanted the children to walk away with, is all feelings are validated. We all have times we feel sad or mad and that's okay. We learned different techniques to help us relax so we can regulate those big feelings and respond in the best way we can.
