I'm a growing seed!

Tu B'Shvat is around the corner and our friends have been learning all about the birthday of  trees.
It says in the Torah "Ki Hadam Etz Hasada"- A person is like a tree.
We showed a tiny seed that a tree looks like when it's being planted in the beginning of its life. Levi, showed us how we start start off like a tiny baby. Axel, helped us learn how to care for a seed so it gets big and strong.

Looking at a picture of them as a baby was such a eye opening experience how big they have gotten!
It was fun to guess who was who!

Documenting on the window helped our friends continue the discussions from our circle time.

Another big idea we learned this week is the different parts of the tree and what it represents as a Jew.
We placed little pretend roots on Avrahams brand new shoes ;)
Roots help the tree be sturdy and strong.
Our roots are our belief in Hashem that no matter what Hashem is in charge!
Our Trunk which is also big and strong is like the Torah that keeps us connected as Jews.

Going outside to feel the big tree and try to push it to see what would happen.

The delicious fruit are our Mitzvahs we do!
Zalman held up his fruit Mitzvah note high and proud!

We do so many sweet Mitzvahs in our class!

Open ended tree sensory play.

Painting branches gave the children a different art experience.

For our beautiful Tu B'shvat craft our friends created a scend of all different items that come from a tree. They worked on their piece over a couple days and kept adding to it.

Leaf necklaces using a hole puncher to weave the leaves on a long string.

Practicing our cutting skills.

Cozy reading time together.

Making Challah dough together is a such a wholesome and special bonding time together.

Bo and Baaah!

Parsha Time!
In parshas Bo, we continue the story of the Jewish people in Mitzrayim- Egypt. During the plague of darkness Hashem made the Egyptians not be able to move while the Jews were able to find all the gold and jewelry that they stole from them. We had a fun hunt around the classroom finding all the treasures.

Making our own jewelry using very small beads for our fine motor practice.

During the last plague the angel of death passed over - Pesach over the Jewish peoples homes.
Yossi, jumping from house to house and Leah created a red door post that they put to show the angel a Jew lives there.

We also learned the very first Mitzvah in the Torah which is Rosh Chodesh- the birth of the moon. We learned all about the moon cycle.

Tu B'Shvat
Yedidya wrote on our hebrew calendar when Tu B'shvat is coming which is hinted in the word TU- 15th of the month of Shvat.

Our friends created a beautiful Tu B'shvat scene for our classroom with them hiding in it!

A person is like a Tree.
Roots- are our Emunah- our faith in Hashem
Trunk- the Torah
Fruits- our Mitzvahs.

Prk Kria
Learning the Hebrew letter final chof. Finding all of them in the prayer of Shema.

Practicing making a final chof using magnet tiles and also trying to write it.

Kindergarten Kria
We learned the next vowel of Segol which makes an Eeh sound.
After learning how to read 'Baah' which sounded like a sheep, a real sheep came to visit us and say the sound herself!

Reading a letter with a segol and than saying hello to the sheep! It was so fun listening to the Sheep saying the sound they learned which we hope will help them remember this lesson for a long time!

English Academics

Using our listening skills to follow directions for a fun movement song!

Writing three and four letter words!

Aftercare teambuilding trying to build a tower without glue or tape just folding.

So much learning all in one week!

This week's Parshas Vaera came to life in our classroom this week.
The Jewish people in Mitzrayim (Egypt) were under King Paroh who was treating them quite badly. It was now time for Moshe to become their leader and help them out.
Moshe, warned King Paroh but with his stubbornness he had to learn his lesson by receiving the 10 plagues.

The first plague was Dam- blood. Moshe's brother Aharon was chosen to hit the Nile river to turn it into blood since Moshe had Hakaras Hatov- gratefulness to the water where he was saved as a baby. We learned if Moshe can be grateful to water how much more so we should be thankful to each other and those who help us.

Our friends pouring blood water on top of the Egyptian cups. After experiencing the first plague of course King Paroh wanted it to stop adn said the Jewish people can be freed.
He did not keep his word.

Jack, showing us the next plague of Tzfardeya- frogs.
Mitzrayim were covered with frogs!

Having fun together and making our 10 plagues project.

This week, we also learned a new morning blessing in davening.
Zokef Kefufim - we can stand up straight taught us animals head and body are on the same level while our heads are on top. This teaches us how we have a mind and choose to do whats right.

Crawling like an animal and feeling the difference.

We did a lot of Judiaca Kria review this week.
Using straws and blowing pom poms into one of the cups that tell us which sound to practice and for the Prk'ers which letter!

Feeding letter cookies and reading what it says.

Deciding what cookie to read.

During Prk Kria our friends learned the letter Chof. Shai, created his out of small pieces pushed into Styrofoam.

During English academics circle time- we played a count and match number game.

We played a movement game with number recognition during academics circle time

Math center; working on adding & subtracting.
