My Rosh Hashana Table

This week Mitzvah Menchies focused on different things that we will find on our Rosh Hashana table!
We got to dip apples in honey.
We are so excited to have a sweet new year!
Graphing which color apple was our favorite!

We read a book all together to learn about bees.
We all agreed that the honey they make is delicious

Working on fine motor skills as we make a pattern on the bees with colorful pushpins
Mendel made a red and green pattern.

We worked as a team to paint a huge box that we turned into a lifesize honey jar!
Getting our Rosh Hashana cards ready to mail out to our grandparents!

Pomegranates are full of seeds!
In hebrew we call it a Rimon, there is around 613 seeds in each pomegranate.
we eat pomegranates on Rosh Hashana so we should have a year full of mitzvos.
Making a reflective pomegranate, and practicing using glue.
We could see ourselves in the pomegranate, look how full of mitzvos we are!

touching and feeling the pomegranate

We rolled the dice and drew the number of dots that we got on a ten frame!
We called them pomegranate seeds, then we got to eat some pomegranate.

We worked together and carefully mixed a special sauce to prepare some roasted Merren.
Merren in yiddish means "to get more" We want Hashem to bless us with many blessings, including money!
Some of our friends weren't sure if they would like it.
Others wanted the recipe!

2 pounds baby carrots
2 tablespoons olive, grape seed or avocado oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix ingredients into a paste and pour over/rub onto carrots
Roast at 400 for 40 minutes.

Another thing we have on our table is a fish head!
Rosh Hashana means HEAD of the year, we want to be the head and not the tail.
We want to be on the top, the head is the most important part!
Meir reminded us that we use our head to think and see!
We were able to have some fish friends visit our class!

We practiced reading colors this week at our writing center.
Meir had the idea to cut his out after he colored the house.

Shmuel creates Aleph beis letters from tape.

Rosh Hashana Song:
A pomegranate bursts with seeds,
just like the mitzvos inside me,
be the head and not the tail that's how its got to be.
Dip apples in the honey sweet
a yummy Rosh Hashana treat
Shana Tova we do say on Rosh Hashana day.
