Chanukah in Our Gan ✨

We had so much fun celebrating Chanukah this week!

We made sure to light the menorah every day, and watching the candles burn was so magical.. 🕯️✨

The children enjoyed sensory play while making their very own menorahs.
Eli F. created a beautiful 3D menorah!

Moshe, filled a dreidel shape using building blocks and, of course, dreidels!

Avraham, made a Gimel!

Show and Tell Time!

Magic painting!

We had such a wonderful time celebrating with our Gan family at our annual Chanukah party!

Getting Chanukah gelt from Rabbi Lang, Thank you!

After learning about the huge miracle Hashem made for the Maccabees, who were few and won against the Yevanim (Greeks) who were many—we practiced our math skills by identifying which pictures showed a few and which showed a lot.
Here you can see Eli F. and Yehudis placing the > (greater-than, or “alligator,” symbol)!

The children had a blast playing in the snow! Exploring, laughing, and enjoying the magic of winter...

After learning all about Chanukah and its yummy traditional foods, we rolled up our sleeves and made our very own latkes!

Magical moments of learning new skills 💛

Yummy!

What a extra special Chanukah treat on our SOS story time day!
Thank you to the Zieglers for coming to visit! Reading a story and playing the accordion!

Happy Chanuka at Gan!

We started off the week with our annual Chanuka party! What a treat spending time with family.

Getting Chanuka gelt from Rabbi Lang.

This week we focused on just celebrating Chanuka and what better way than making homemade Latkas.
Being part of each step!

The best part, eating them!

Shaina, noticing the chanuka shapes through paint.

Ziva, creating her oil jug craft.

We discovered in back of our school building snow from the art studios party!
Some friends did not know what it was! What a fun surprise playing with snow and a bunch of car tires.

It's been so nice seeing our friends pictures lighting their menorah at home!

A Week of Light and Joy!

This week we got into the story behind Chanukah!

We learned about King Antiochus and the three rules he forced upon the Jewish people: no Shabbat, no Bris Milah, and no Torah learning.

The Jewish people wanted so deeply to keep all the mitzvot that they went to hide in caves high up in the mountains to continue learning Torah. When the Yevanim soldiers came to arrest them, the children quickly took out their dreidels and pretended they were just playing a game. The soldiers were fooled and left empty-handed!

A small group of Jewish soldiers called the Maccabees formed to fight against the Greek army. We learned about the great miracle of a small group defeating a much larger army, and about the bravery it took to stand up for what they believed in.

Mordy shared that his safe hands make him feel very brave.

Through working with different materials and shapes, the children strengthened their fine motor skills and expressed their creativity as they created menorahs, dreidels, and Chanukah gelt.

Working together as a team, the children practiced sharing, taking turns, and helping each other while completing a puzzle.

We did lots of Chanukah-themed art, including spinning dreidel art that will be displayed on our bulletin board!

Yosef created a menorah-shaped challah!

This week we celebrated Yud Tes Kislev a special day that marks the freedom of the Alter Rebbe and the spreading of Chassidic teachings. We enjoyed a special lunch, and Rabbi Lang led a joyful farbrengen!

Pre-K Kria

This week we learned the letter Chet!

K Kria

We learned to read and write Chanukah-themed words and used them to build a sentence.

Academics

We have been learning about bridges, and why they are important. Here we worked as a team to build a bridge over “River Yehudis”.

STEM time! We constructed bridges and tested their structural integrity.

Shabbat Shalom! 💜
