The 4 names of Rosh Hashana!

There is a very SPECIAL holiday coming up in the Jewish calendar, it is the first day of the Jewish new year!

The day is compared to the "head" of the whole year, and that's where it gets its first name:

1. "Rosh Hashana". Rosh - Head! Just like our brain controls our entire body this holiday gives us the power for the entire year!

2.  "Yom Hadin" - The day of judgement. The kids made a scale and were asked to point to the heavier side, then they drew a Mitzvah that they did this year! There was so much to choose from!

Mendy and Yossi, putting some coins in the scale to remind Hashem of all the Tzedaka they are giving everyday!

3. "Yom Teruah" - a day we sound the shofar.

4.  "Yom Hazikaron" - a day Hashem "remembers" all the good that I did this year!
Hashem will remember,  "Chana helped her Mommy and gave her sister Sheina her pacifier."

Mordy, making the cover for his Rosh Hashana book.

One of the ways we remember the 4 names is with Brain Smart Starts, through movement and a little chant. Ask your child to show you!

Working hard like bees to make "Shanah Tova" cards for our loved ones!

We enjoyed a sweet treat after we wrote our names with apples dip in honey.

Looking through the scrapbook and all the fun messages from our parents! Their smiles says it all!

Signing in our name when we walk in the class quickly became one of the morning rituals.

Making our own challah dough for Shabbat and doing the beautiful mitzvah of Hafrashat challah!

Ahavas Yisrael! 💖

K Kria

This week we introduced the first nekuda - Kamatz!
Reading from the new Kamatz charts and singing the Kamatz song.

Leah is showing us the "Uh" sound that the Kamatz make.
She choose the letter ל (Lamed) to go on top of the Kamatz she made out of tape, together it sounds like "La"!

Pre-k Kria

Learning the letter Beis in creative ways!

Academics

At Circle Time we played a game about syllables!

Using fine motor skills to sort by color,
and playing shape and color bingo.

Aftercare

The children had fun teaming up to make a veggie tray come to life! They enjoyed a variety of vegetables and will remember how vegetables play a huge part in our nutrition.

The children created a book with different textures and feelings. This book had fun techniques to help them stay calm and calm those emotions.

Shabbat Shalom!
