I am like a rainbow!

This week we learned Pashas Noach.

Noach and his wife Naama had an important job to do. They were the only ones in the world acting morally and Hashem asked for a Teiva (boat) to be built for them and 7 of each Kosher animal and 2 of each non- kosher animal while there will be a big mabul (flood).

While learning about the big Mabul (flood) that Hashem sent we took this opportunity to learn about what makes something sink or float at our sensory table.

Our big idea this week is what happened AFTER  the flood. When Noach came out, Hashem showed him a big rainbow which signified his job now in the world. To fill the world with light and colorful Mitzvahs.

Just like Noach and his family who took good care of the animals in the Teiva we take good care of our pet bearded dragon. Making sure he gets sunlight and feed.

Our Land and the beginning of the Torah!

Welcoming back our friends from a long Yom Tov break! 

Our dramatic play area turned into a place where our friends shared what they did and documented on paper.

The Jewish people now start the Torah from the beginning with the Parsha of Breishis!

Hashem, created our beautiful world starting with the 7 days of creation. 

We learn Hashem is constantly creating the world but it all started with 7 days!

Day 1: There was light and dark.

Jack experimenting with light and shadows and having his friends guess the object he was holding.

We took this opportunity to learn the first of the morning 
Brachas during davening. Thank you Hashem that gives us the understanding of knowing the deference between light and dark. Aside for the physical light and dark it also has a deeper meaning,  we know the difference between good and not good. Our friends helped us with these examples.

Day 2: There was the sky and the sea. Shai and Leah, had fun making a rain scene dripping water from the clouds and finding the hidden Hebrew letters in the background for extra review.

Day 3: There were flowers grass and trees! Yakov, working hard on his creation art by gluing different colorful flowers.

Day 5: Yossi, finding fish and bird stickers that Hashem created

Day 6: Shai, creating a person! Hashem created animals and Adam and Chava on the sixth day.

Day 7:Good Shabbos! Our day of rest, a gift from Hashem!

Our Land

With the recent events in Eretz Yisroel, this week in a safe and positive way our friends learned how special the holy land is to all of the Jewish people! We are all one family and every extra mitzvah we do helps keep our land safe. 

First, we found Eretz Yisroel on the globe. Yedidya, shared with us when he went there with his family!

This whole week we gave extra Tzedaka by our davening circle.

Thank you Rabbi Lang for coming in and doing a rally to spiritually help Eretz Yisroel! The prayers and Torah verses from the children are the most precious of all to Hashem!

A Lesson In A Backpack!

This month has been packed with so many beautiful Holidays and big ideas. 

This week we learned that all those lessons are not just for the Holidays but rather to take with us all year long! 

We learns this from the verse 'Yakov Halach L'darko' - yakov went on his way. This means returning to our regular routines but with an uplifted spirit and lessons from each Holiday.

We used a backpack to represent everything we are packing away. Our friends got to put in different items they have been seeing throughout the month like the Shofar, Lulav etc.

Our friends helped pack away all the Holiday decorations around the classroom which help them understand in a hands on way.

A big hug from Hashem!

What is a Sukkah? And what does it remind us of?

To help the children understand the history of this Holiday, and why we build a "hut" at this time of year, we took the children back in time using sand and puppets to tell the story of the Jewish People traveling in the desert.

We invited some friends to step onto the sand to feel the bumpy, earth that the Jewish people must have felt while they traveled.

Did the Jewish people have  cars?  Stores to shop at ? Houses to protect them? Washing machines to clean their clothing in the desert?

Nope! 

Using fake clouds, we demonstrated what protected the Jewish people while they traveled in the desert many years ago.

Hashem protected them with a big cloud.  

When wild animals came... they weren't scared, because Hashem's cloud protected them..

When they were hungry, they didn't need a store to shop for food, because Hashem sent miracle food called "Mahn"

When their clothing got dirty, they didn't need washing machines because Hashems cloud cleaned it!

When the sun was shining so strong, they didn't need shade from their houses because Hashems cloud protected them!

A SUKKAH reminds us of Hashems Cloud that protected the Jewish people while they were in the desert. 

The cloud was like a bIg HUG from Hashem, telling the Jewish people that they are safe, and they don't need to worry.

When we build a Sukkah, it reminds us that Hashem is always taking care of us and it's like getting a big hug from Hashem.

At the end of Sukkos we have the holiday of Simchas Torah! We love the Torah and created our own flags to dance with at Shul.
