Face to Face with a ladybug!

Birds, Bugs and Fish in the Sea...

Discovering the big world around us through the eyes of our preschoolers lends itself to lots of exciting moments!
The joy and fascination in the children's eyes, of actually coming across a lady bug, as we are tending to our Gan Camarillo garden has to be up there as one of those moments!

Shua carefully manipulates the scissors to snip the weeds.

As we were trimming off the brown leaves to make space for the new green ones....

We found a LADYBUG!
"But why doesn't it have spots?"
"Where are the wings?"

GOOD QUESTIONS!

At first all the children were too afraid to actually hold it.

Watching from a distance

Liam was the first to hold it!

After everyone had a chance to observe, we learned that it was a BABY ladybug! We actually witnessed the ladybug slowly find its wings (which were invisible at first)...and watch it learn to fly!

We also learned that Only when they grow bigger, do they get their spots on their wings!!

Taking Care of Hashem's Creations: Bird Feeders

Using pine cones, peanut butter and bird seed, the children enjoyed creating their very own bird feeder to hang in a tree at home!

On the theme of insects..... we ate a yummy snack....

Ants on a Log

Great Daily living skills, learning to spread the peanut butter on the celery, and then carefully placing the tiny raisins onto it!

Birds in a nest

To make the learning fun and meaningful for the children we pretended this basket was a nest...and placed pretend eggs in their hands, like the Mother bird protects her babies!
