Fun & Yummy way to remember what G-d Created on Days #1 & 2

Our goal for this summer is for the children to discover and learn what was created on each of the 7 days of creation!

(and of course enjoy every minute of it!)

This first week of Camp we explored Days 1 & 2.

On Day #1 G-d (Hashem) Created Light and Dark! Can you imagine a world without Light? How would we see?

To help the children understand what darkness is, we did a fun activity using a box filled with darkness! We made a little hole on either side of the box. One for the children to peek inside, and one which we kept covered at first, to allow the children to experiment  and try to see what was in there!

Most of the responses were, "I can't see! Its too dark!"

BUT DOES THAT MEAN NOTHING IS THERE, JUST BECAUSE WE CAN'T SEE?

Darkness is simply the absence of Light!

Looking into a dark box and then letting the light in through a tiny hole.

After letting a little bit of light in through the other hole, the children were able to understand this concept!

A fun and Yummy way to remember what was created on Day #1 was making
BLACK & WHITE Cookies!

Day #2- Hashem separated the waters to create the sky and the ocean! During circle time we created an ocean in a bottle!

using a sifter to add sand

squeezing sponges and cotton balls to experience how Hashem separated the waters
from up high and down low.  We learned that clouds are actually made of rain water!

For more sensory fun the children enjoyed playing with blue and white rice!

Guess what also comes from water? ICE!

Digging out the fish and boats from the ice in the water table.

Water Relay Race!

This was a fun introduction to team work and relay races! The children had a lot of fun cheering on their teams, as they ran with cups full of water, transferring the water from the bucket on one side of the grass, to the other.

Some of the children took a little while to figure out that it was not an individual race, rather a COMBINED EFFORT- to fill the bucket up on the other end!

HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY COOPER!

Giving tzedakah (charity) in honor of Coopers birthday
and of course eating some delicious super Cooper cake!

Looking forward to next week when we will discover what was made

on Days # 3 & 4!
