Why are birthdays special days?

Birthdays are special days....

We celebrate the day that a persons soul came into their body! The day that a baby was born into the world 3, 4 or 5 years ago....

We know that it is our soul that gives our body life, and when our soul is another year older, it gives our body extra strength to do good things, and help fulfill our mission for being in this world!

Each year that we grow older, we are able to do MORE. We talk to the children about what they were able to do when they were just 1 years old...or 2 years old... only roll over...crawl..and then walk... and then talk...

Just like we grow physically- we need to grow spiritually- in the Mitzvah's that we can do! One of the traditions of celebrating a Jewish Birthday is for the birthday child to take on or do a NEW MITZVAH!

Happy birthday Cooper!!

In preparation for celebrating a birthday at Gan, each of the children in the class create a beautiful artwork page that goes into a birthday book for the birthday child to take home.

We document the children's blessings and wishes to their friend.

One of the highlights of the celebration, is when we read the "Birthday Book" at the party!

Cooper listening to the book that his friends made for him!

The birthday book is filled with pictures each child works on and draws something for
birthday child.

Cooper loving our traditional birthday chair that gets raised the amount
of years the birthday child is! Here Cooper got 3 times!

Happy birthday Rachel!

Rochel getting excited and had Ellah her friend help her set the table.

Nothing like siblings who come for the birthday too!

One of the Jewish birthday traditions, is to eat a new fruit and say
a special blessing on it!

Rochels proud of her book

Friends all happy to give Rachel the birthday ride!
