The Best Family For Me

This week in Gan, Pre-K explored what being in a family means.
We decided that being in a family means.....
you are related to them and you love them, and you live with them.

It was so sweet to see who all of our Pre-k considered family. Mendel said that his family housekeeper was family because she lives with him.
We told the story of Hashem holding a little soul close to him, Searching through the whole world, and deciding the best family for that little soul to go to.

Emma P. counted 5 people in her family to add to the graph in our classroom

Helping the uppercase frogs, find their family log.
Mina was so surprised to see that when a lot of friends worked together, it went much faster.
Emma M. helps a frog hop to his home.

Batya set her mind to drawing a picture of her family.
Mendel enjoyed playing the family matching game.

Stamping our family words and letters

Where do Families live?

After we talked about what being a family means, we wondered about where families live. Spencer told us that her family lives in an apartment. While Mina shared some exciting news that her family is moving to a new house.

Future architects share  ideas about how to build a house with the materials.
Mendel builds his dreamhouse on the light table.

Everyone helped the Aleph-Bais letters find their correctly colored house

What Do I Do in my Family?

We talked about the different jobs that we do in our family. Many children took a minute to think about what their Mommies and Daddies do.
Moshe told us that his Mommy and Tatty both work at Hebrew High.
Emma M. shared that her Mommy works so hard, and her job is to play!

Mina wanted to write down the job she does at home.
Tamar pulled up her sleeves and got to work washing dishes.

Questions:
How many people are in your family?
What letter does Family start with? (F)
What sound does it make? (ffffffff)
Sing the song with your child!

Song:
TTTO Hu Elokeinu
Families are big,
Families are small,
I love my family the most of all.
Hashem looked all around,
What did he see,
He picked the best,
Family for me.
